‘Sporting Tower’ is a collaborative project between Bertz Associates and the youth of Birmingham, that has been created for the Birmingham 2022 Festival.

The Tower is a venue in Birmingham at the verge of demolition and privatisation. Located by the Edgbaston Community reservoir, it’s been a key venue for almost 200 years. Hosting sports events, rollerskating, entertainment, and many parties. Mohammed Ali visited the Reservoir and bands like The Wailers & New Order played there.

The film focuses on legends who sported at the tower, like Pat Kirkham, a speed skater on the first ever British women's team and Dick Turpin the first man to break the colour barrier in boxing. The final film will be shown at different screenings around Birmingham between the 27th of July and 8th of August.
