Birmingham is a dance floor!

The largest dance festival in the UK returns for three fantastic weeks, with an incredible programme. Expect amazing dance in the city’s theatres and a takeover of our public spaces bringing dance to your doorstep. Birmingham’s signature festival has its citizens firmly at its heart celebrating the city’s distinctive spirit, diversity, inclusivity and togetherness.

The packed programme presents new ideas and new voices by talented dance performers from across the region and the UK, alongside the very best of international dance and inspiring choreography, including work from acclaimed Commonwealth artists.

Enjoy spectacular free outdoor work featuring a variety of dance styles, including Hip Hop, Contemporary, South Asian, Ballet, African and Caribbean, and more, plus lots of opportunities to take part in workshops and social dancing. Birmingham truly is a global dance destination.

Highlights include:

Critical Mass – Young people from Birmingham 2022’s inclusive dance project open the festival with their brand new show co-created with dance artist Maiya Leeke. 

Tappin' In – A mass tap dancing and storytelling extravaganza. 

Birmingham Royal Ballet – Thrilling triple bill, curated by Director Carlos Acosta, at Birmingham Hippodrome.

Midlands Made – A showcase featuring the best of local talent from across the region.

Kre8 – By Marso Riviere – Experimental dance battle engaging exceptional local and international dance performers.

Mobilise – By Fatt Projects – A joyful and radical, LGBTQIA+ accessible, sober dance party.

Mirage – By Company Dyptik – A large scale show-stopping outdoor performance inviting audiences to join in the finale.

Remembrances – A collaborative new dance work from diverse artists in the UK and First Nations in Canada. 

∞ [Infinite] – By Humanhood – A dance theatre meditation taking the audience through a mystical journey. 

Original Digital and Video Work – Fabulous screendance online to watch at any time anywhere.
