A beautifully simple and moving theatre production telling the story of how Precious McKenzie, born in apartheid-era South Africa, overcame extraordinary odds to become a Commonwealth weightlifting champion, first for England and then for New Zealand, and how the inspirational Emily Campbell from Nottingham is preparing to lift for gold in 2022.

There will be twelve different versions of this show to watch through the festival. Ten are made and performed by primary schools around the region, helped by local theatre company Stan’s Cafe. A gala performance brings together scenes from each school’s production and finally Stan’s Cafe will create and tour a bi-lingual family version of the show in English and BSL.

Each production involves great acting and movement, some music and probably some songs, along with metaphors, jokes, some cheering and probably some life lessons as well.
