Birmingham Heritage Week invites you to explore and (re)discover Birmingham’s rich history and heritage during this 10-day city-wide heritage festival. This year, 100 Birmingham based organisations and societies, involving thousands of staff and volunteer hours, will open their doors and offer events to show off what Birmingham has to offer. With over 150 events to choose from – ranging from talks, walks, workshops, outdoor performances, building tours and open days to heritage themed cycling and running tours – there is something for everyone. Discover what’s on your doorstep.
This year, Birmingham Heritage Week offers the chance to enjoy hugely popular Birmingham 2022 Festival events you may have missed but probably want to see again. Experience prayer time at the Green Lane Masjid and go behind-the-scenes of Acme Whistles, originally presented as part of Key to the City by Fierce, and don’t miss your chance to see Everything to Everybody at the Library of Birmingham and Gem of a Place by BOLDtext Playwrights.
Birmingham Museums Trust’s ‘Community Archiving Evening’ is presented as part of Blood & Fire: Our Journey Through Vanley Burke’s History, the ground-breaking exhibition which draws from the artist’s personal collection of photographs to illustrate the wider, connected history of Black British experiences through the focused lens of Birmingham communities.
And don’t miss Flatpack’s extended series of Wonderland events, including ‘Cinema Treasure Hunt’, ‘Wonderland Cinema Walk, ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ and ‘Wonderland Memory Box’ at various Birmingham City Centre locations.
