Smiths Detection are the Official Security Equipment Provider for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, supplying X-Ray, explosive trace and detection, and biological detection equipment across all game venues.
The X-ray systems supplied by Smiths Detection will be used to screen sporting equipment and personal belongings for contraband to help create a safe and secure environment for everyone throughout the Games. In preparation for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Smiths Detection will deliver complete training for operators, as well as provide equipment service throughout the event. In addition, Smiths Detection are providing their BioFlash Biological Identifier, which is able to scan the air for the presence of SARS-CoV-2.
The equipment used for the Games comes from Smiths Detection’s rental service, drastically reducing emissions that would have been created with manufacturing new equipment. This supports Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games’ aim to be the first edition of the Games to create a carbon-neutral legacy.
