Victoria Park

The wording in the key of the map matches the signs you will see during Games time, but this is what they really mean for you: 

No on-road parking: Vehicles must not park on the street.

No stopping: Vehicles must not stop on the road to wait, load, unload or board and alight passengers, except permit holders. 

Controlled parking: To protect residential roads from spectator parking during events; waiting, loading and parking restrictions will be in place. This means if you live on a controlled parking road you will need a permit to park on the road. These permits will be free and will be issued by your Local Authority, Warwickshire County Council. You will need to display this permit on your windscreen when parking on-street to avoid a fine.

Permit access only: Protected by a vehicle permit checkpoint (VPC), only permit holders displaying the permit on their windscreen will be allowed to pass. These permits will be free and issued by your Local Authority, Warwickshire County Council.

Venue load zone: Drop off and pick up points for dedicated Games buses.

One-way traffic: Vehicles will only be able to travel in one direction on these roads.

Vehicle permit checkpoint: You will need to show a permit to travel past a vehicle permit checkpoint (VPC) and access the road.

Secure zone: These areas will have restricted access throughout the Games, they will only be accessible by authorised pass holders or ticket holders on an event day.

To make it easier for you to see if your road has a restriction, we have listed the affected roads below:

L5 Parking Permit holders will be issued with Local Access and Parking Permits per household that will allow priority parking in several locations. This includes York Road, Station Approach and Riverside House. If there is a need for additional permits, the local authority will review these on a case by-case basis.

Detail on alternative parking locations and how they will work, will be communicated at a later date.

Businesses in the areas surrounding the venues or within the road closures should speak to their commercial waste provider about the potential for disruption to their collection services during this time.

Due to the proximity to Victoria Park, there will be restricted access to Archery Road, Victoria Street and Victoria Road during the Games. Residents of these roads will have vehicle access, as close as possible, to their properties for the purposes of pick up and drop offs, deliveries by arrangement, social care visits and emergency visits. 

It is anticipated that Archery Road will be managed similarly to how it was during the annual National Bowls Championships, with a control point at the entrance on Adelaide Road.

Each day, vehicle access will be prevented at the end of every session of play when spectators are exiting the venue into Archery Road. These times will be confirmed in advance. Emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Access to Station Approach will be restricted during Games time, but residents of Sayer Close and de Normanville Ave who need vehicle access to Station Approach will be issued with permits to enter these areas and park in their allocated spaces.

During the road closure period, residents and businesses will not have access to the closed roads until the closures have been removed.

Pedestrian and cycling will not be permitted on the closed roads, but footpaths and pedestrian crossing points will be available across the course. Additionally, there will be designated walking routes for spectators travelling to the venue.

We will work closely with care providers and individuals to make sure that care visits are co-ordinated with the road closures in mind. Care providers are advised to plan their journeys ahead for this one-day event, taking into account road closure times once available and potential increased traffic on some roads. All emergency services are working to ensure that normal services continue during the event period. Access within the restricted areas for emergency services will continue as normal.

Non-emergency – call GPs for urgent, but not-emergency medical care.

Call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk for advice when GP surgeries are closed.

Park users will need to use alternative car parks during the period when the venue car parks are out of use. We realise that this will be an inconvenience to some and would encourage those with limited mobility to use other parks/open spaces if they need to be able to park close to the park.

The Lawn Bowls and Para Lawn Bowls competitions are taking place every day betweenFriday 29 July and Saturday 6 August. Spectator movements in and around the park and adjoining streets will be very busy at the spectator arrival times and session end times, so it would be worth noting when this will be happening each day so you can plan your journeys accordingly:

Adelaide Road Pay and Display Car Park will not be available for general parking as it will be used as a taxi rank for the duration of the events in Victoria Park.

The car park at the Princes Drive end of Victoria Park will be used for vehicle screening and therefore will not be available for parking during the period from 13 July 2022 to 11 August 2022.
