From trades and construction, through to the procurement and the steady supply of materials, goods and services, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will present a wealth of opportunities to regional businesses. Local and national tourism will swell with over 1 million spectators expected to travel to the Games, giving a boost to restaurants, hotels and transport.
In the run up to this momentous event, schools in the region will have the chance to get involved with the celebrations. They’ll have the opportunity to visit new sporting venues and take part in the city’s cultural programmes that will include major commissions and public events. Following its tour of the Commonwealth, the baton will visit towns throughout the West Midlands as part of the Queen’s Baton Relay. This will present wider opportunities for volunteering, as well as Games partnerships in the region.
