The Richard Whitehead Foundation aims to identify and break down barriers enabling disabled people to fulfil their life goals through sport and movement. Breaking down barriers e.g. travel with solutions requires a person centred approach. M-Power (Mentor and Empower) is a project that uses successful disabled people in sport or business as role models who can mentor, support, empower and enable disabled people to achieve their goals through sport.

These mentors will work with individual disabled people in the West Midlands to improve their health and well being and connect them with their local sporting / physical activity provision. This includes supporting the local community in a school, club or placed based organisation to understand how to include and empower the individual to be successful. A secondary aspect of the project is our ability to tell the lived experiences of our participants to inform local and national activity design and solutions benefit of all disabled people.
