
India win women's Hockey bronze
India kept their nerve to come through 2-1 in the shoot-out and secure bronze.
India won the women's hockey bronze medal with a shoot-out victory over defending champions New Zealand.
Salima Tete appeared to have won the game for India with her goal in the second quarter.
But New Zealand levelled the match with just 18.5 seconds remaining in the final quarter after they were awarded a penalty stroke and captain Olivia Merry made no mistake.
India kept their nerve to come through 2-1 in the shoot-out and secure bronze.
Goalkeeper Savita Punia, who made the decisive contribution in the shoot-out, said: "I feel great. This match was very tough for us and both teams made a good effort.
"We knew it wouldn't be easy, so before we came, we worked every minute and every second.
"I am so proud. We fought as a team."
England take on Australia in the gold medal match on Sunday afternoon.
