Joe Ee Ng claims double Gymnastics gold for Malaysia
The 16-year-old took gold by .700 points from Suzanna Shahbazian of Canada in the ball final with an impressive score of 29.700.
Malaysia teenager Joe Ee Ng celebrated double gold in the Rhythmic Gymnastics as she claimed the Commonwealth ball and ribbon titles at Arena Birmingham.
The 16-year-old took gold by 0.650 points from Suzanna Shahbazian of Canada in the ball final with an impressive score of 29.700.
Individual all-around silver medallist Anna Sokolova of Cyprus took bronze.
Ng admitted she was delighted to take home two Commonwealth titles and said she had not expected to be so successful.
She said: “Of course, I’m very happy. I didn’t expect to get two gold medals.
"This is my first Commonwealth Games so it’s quite amazing. It’s a good experience for me.”
In the ribbon contest, Ng scored 27.800 points to take gold as Scotland's Louise Christie clinched the silver medal - a ninth Birmingham silver medal for Team Scotland - with 27.550.
Canada's Carmel Kallemaa added bronze to her team gold after silver success in the clubs and another bronze in the hoop.
Gemma Natasha Frizelle claimed Wales' fifth Commonwealth title of Birmingham 2022 as she celebrated success in Saturday's hoop final.
The 24-year-old's score of 28.700 pipped Sokolova to gold by 0.400 points as Kallemaa finished third, 0.100 further back.

Frizelle was delighted to defy injury to take home gold, saying: "A few weeks ago I found out that I had quite a major injury in my back. I only started bending a few days before the competition which isn’t ideal in gymnastics.
“I didn’t think I was going to make it here so just to make it here, then make finals, then to this - incredible."
In the penultimate round of the day, Australia's Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva added Commonwealth clubs gold to her team silver and individual all-around bronze as she goes home with each colour medal.
The 20-year-old claimed the title with a score of 29.400 as Kallemaa sealed silver and Izzah Binti Amzan of Malaysia completed the podium with bronze.
Team England's Marfa Ekimova could only claim two fourth-placed finishes in the ball and hoop finals - coming sixth in the ribbon - after winning the all-around title on Friday and team bronze the day before.
