This year from 28 July – 8 August, Birmingham will host the largest, spectator filled, sporting event to happen in the UK since London 2012 and there’s a whole host of sports on offer that are perfect for enjoy with a group!

Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 at Smithfield

Birmingham 2022 will be the is the first time the 3x3 version of Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball will be seen at a Commonwealth Games. This is a more compact game with the court halved in size, only one hoop and 12 seconds on the shot clock. Fast and dynamic, we’re expecting five days of competition packed with edge of your seat excitement down at Smithfield.

Off court, Smithfield will be home to a festival site like no other. Visitors can expect to find an immersive cultural arts programme to dive into, either side of the sport sessions. And with a city centre location, it’s perfect for a post work get together with your mates.

Rugby 7s at Coventry Stadium

Get a group of friends together to see one of the most exciting forms of Rugby. In this lightning fast version of the game, two teams of seven go head to head over two halves of seven minutes producing matches that are often packed with tries.

If the traditional Rugby 7s atmosphere is up your street then book yourselves in to the Sevens Stand, a dedicated area of the stadium for fans who want to get the party started.

Wherever you chose to sit in the stadium though, you’ll be enjoying action from some of the best teams on the 7s circuit.

Women’s Cricket T20 at Edgbaston Stadium

If there’s one sport you won’t want to miss this summer, it’s Women’s Cricket T20. In July and August, Women’s Cricket T20 will make history at Birmingham 2022, as it makes its first appearance at a Commonwealth Games. Edgbaston Stadium, one of the world’s leading venues for cricket, hailed in part for its unforgettable atmospheres for spectators, will play home to a thrilling schedule of matches and an unbelievable celebration of Women’s sport.
