Project Details

Make A Difference (MAD) is a Sport Birmingham open access youth development programme, designed by young people for young people.

MAD works with community partners, parents and schools to provide a sustainable offer that has evolved from open access youth clubs and outreach services to a tailored sports-driven mentoring programme for young people aged 11-16 living in deprived areas and from minority ethnic communities.

The programme provides skills and support for young people who face personal and social disadvantages that make it difficult for them to flourish within formal structures and acts as a catalyst for change within their lives and on their values around education and future employment.

The referred young people engage in a personal development programme focusing around sport, physical and cultural activities that encourage them to reflect on their behaviours and equip them with life skills to assist their development, both within and outside the school setting.
