Project Details

Erdington RFC is on a mission to Change Lives Through Sport (CLTS). CLTS uses sport to tackle important issues facing young people in Erdington, including anti-social behaviour and violent crime. The project provides free coaching, kit, hot meals and transport to children under the age of 18.

There is a coaching course and volunteering opportunities for those who want to get more involved. This is done by changing lives, helping young people understand discipline and respect, by forging a sense of community, and by modelling positive behaviours. CLTS puts coaches into schools and on to the streets where they provide outreach support alongside the police. More than 50 young people attend the after-school club.

The project is based at Spring Lane, which is growing into a new social space to strengthen cultural cohesion, understanding and respect. The project is bringing people together, and it is having a positive effect on people’s health and wellbeing. It is a catalyst for changing lives in the community.
