Project Details

The Birmingham & Solihull Industrial Symbiosis (BASIS) has created a growing regional network of small and medium-sized businesses, community projects, charities, and academic institutions. Within the network, the project provides free support to create links such that one organisation's waste becomes another organisation's valuable input.

Operating on a not-for-profit basis, the project has created significant environmental, financial and social benefits, seeking to catalyse change by showing companies how they can achieve savings at the same time as reducing carbon emissions and other impacts on the environment.

BASIS, using funding from the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership and the European Regional Development Fund, provides a free resource to introduce companies to the benefits of working with local third sector initiatives, providing support to local communities and generating good news stories.

The project has been approached by RGS to see if there are opportunities to rehome goods and equipment once the Commonwealth games is finished.
