Project Details

Black Heritage Walks Network holds walks and pop-up events that enable cross-cultural discussions about the past, current and future, including the heritage of those with a Commonwealth identity. The network tackles business enterprise and health inequalities. The organisation works with local elders from a commonwealth background, who become role models for young and hard to reach people.

Social prescribing is used to support communities to live happier healthy lives and reach their full potential through the commonwealth games' spirit. The project will engage and connect communities, as well as athletes from home and commonwealth backgrounds.

Birmingham and surrounding areas are classed as super diverse, with a wealth of often overlooked assets. The project aims to showcase Birmingham's heritage and history by revealing untold stories and greatness within the city and its connection to Commonwealth homelands.
