Media Transport

Birmingham 2022 is applying a sustainable approach to media transport and given that the city is extremely well-connected, public transport will be the primary solution for travel to the venues.

For selected competition venues, dedicated media bus services (TM) will be provided from the City Centre. Details on the best ways to travel to each competition venue are provided in the Press and Photographer's Handbook which will be available shortly.

Public Transport

Media who have a valid Games Accreditation pass, will be able to use the public transport for free in Birmingham and the West Midlands between 19 July and 10 August.

To plan your route to a venue, please use our Games Journey Planner.

Media Bus (TM)

Dedicated media bus services (TM) will be provided in some cases, running from the city centre to selected competition venues. These services will start on Granville Street (next to Holliday Street), which is a short walk from the Games Media Hub at Arena Birmingham, pick up at Dudley Street (next to Birmingham New Street station) and then travel direct to the following competition venues:

  • Alexander Stadium - Ceremonies, Athletics & Para Athletics
  • Sandwell Aquatics Centre - Diving, Swimming & Para Swimming
  • Cannock Chase Forest - Cycling - Mountain Bike
  • Sutton Park - Triathlon & Para Triathlon
  • Coventry Stadium - Rugby Sevens only
  • Warwick - Cycling - Road Race
  • Wolverhampton - Cycling - Time Trial
  • Victoria Park - Lawn Bowls & Para Lawn Bowls

On the return journey, the service will drop off at Sheepcote Street (close to the Games Media Hub) as well as Granville Street and Dudley Street.
