Jeevan has taken a leading role in encouraging a community of young people to take up hockey.
Joining the then Yardley Hockey Club, now City of Birmingham Hockey Club, as an 11 year old, Jeevan spent the 12 years that followed making his mark at the club. He was named young player of the year in 2013, was elected onto the club management in 2016, named clubman of the year and became chairman in 2018, making him the youngest hockey chairman in English hockey at the age of 21.
Since taking on this role, Jeevan has significantly increased membership at the club by creating connections with schools, universities and local communities. As a result, the club now boasts two men’s and ladies teams and a thriving junior section.
Jeevan has specifically focussed on providing opportunities for young people from a diverse range of backgrounds including ethnic minority groups, children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities, and from socio-economically deprived areas.
He is an integral figure at the club as, in addition to his role as chairman, Jeevan also plays, coaches, umpires, mentors, volunteers and supports all members and has helped bring the club to where it is today, preserving an 88 year-strong history.
