Let’s Take It On!

Has one of your students taken on a challenge or cause and made a positive impact within their community?

Birmingham 2022 Learning Programme are offering schools with secondary age pupils in the West Midlands the once in a lifetime chance to nominate a student to be a Batonbearer and carry the Queen’s Baton in Summer 2022.

To qualify, schools must be in one of the following local authority areas: Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, Coventry or Solihull.

Batonbearer Nomination Terms & Conditions

A Batonbearer can be someone who meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Always willing to take on a challenge and has a unique and inspiring story;
  • Has made a meaningful contribution to sport, education, the arts, culture, or charity;
  • Is a figure of inspiration that positively challenges others to achieve their best;
  • Has taken on a challenge or cause and made a positive impact within their community.

Batonbearers must be 12 years of age or over as of 2 June 2022. To nominate your school’s Batonbearer, please download and read the guidance document and complete the nomination form.

Dates are subject to change.

January 2022: Nominations Open

Nominations open for Batonbearers in England.

March 2022: Nominations Close

School Batonbearer nominations must be received by 5pm 4 March 2022.

April 2022: Batonbearers Selected

Batonbearers for England will receive notification that they have been selected.

Summer 2022: Relay is Live

The Queen’s Baton Relay will begin in England with over 2,000 Batonbearers.
