Join us in Centenary Square for a spectacular celebration of sport

10am-6pm, Wednesday 28 July 2021
Centenary Square, Birmingham

As of 28 July 2021, there will be exactly one year to go until the start of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games! To mark the occasion, we’ll be hosting a free spectacular live sports festival in Centenary Square, Birmingham, providing just a glimpse of next summer’s sporting action.

The Games will be packed full of sport – so to celebrate this big day in the build up to next year’s event, we’re inviting people of all ages to come and try some of the sports that will feature. There will also be the opportunity to meet star Team England athletes, and see them in action demonstrating their skills in some of the Birmingham 2022 sports.

There will be a range of Birmingham 2022 merchandise available to purchase on the day, too, and there may even be the chance to meet our superstar mascot, Perry, who will be joining in the festivities.

Plus, Birmingham 2022’s official nature and carbon neutral supporter, Severn Trent Water, will be hosting a water bar, where visitors will be able to refill their reusable water bottles to stay hydrated for the sporting action, and reduce the number of single use bottles we throw away.

Covid-19 Safety

While we’re all excited to celebrate this milestone in the run up to Birmingham 2022, if you’re planning to attend, please read through the below Covid-19 advice:

  • We encourage you to take a lateral flow test before you attend, and only attend if the result is negative
  • Please make use of the sanitising stations available throughout the site
  • There will be a queuing system in place at high-demand sport activities, to give everyone who wants to take part plenty of space to do so
  • Track and trace barcodes will be available
  • Face coverings are encouraged in crowded areas

Once you’ve tried some of the sports on offer, don’t forget that the West Midlands ticket ballot is open now, so you can take a look at the event schedule and choose which of the 286 sport sessions you’d like to attend next year.

We can’t wait to see you!
Let us know you’re coming on the official Facebook event.
