Hometown Heroes are those champions of grassroots sport who make a real difference to local sports clubs and their members. They are those people who always go above and beyond to develop sport in their community.
Nominees could be a coach, player, volunteer, supporter, or any other individual closely connected with a sport club, team, facility or organisation.
Simply complete a nomination form here and tell us why they deserve to be recognised.
Unfortunately not. We can only accept nominations from people over the age of 18.
Nominees must live and work in the West Midlands region (covering the counties of West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire).
Nominees can be involved in any sport, and are not limited to those included in the Birmingham 2022 sporting programme.
A Birmingham 2022 panel will choose the winning entries.
The best of the nominations will be chosen to appear in an upcoming Birmingham 2022 advertising campaign, and could feature on billboards at locations close to where they live during 2021. To capture the images for this advertising campaign, winners will take part in a photo shoot during November 2020. Other winners may not be featured on billboard adverts, but could still be profiled on the Birmingham 2022 website and social media channels, and through the media.
Nominations are open until midnight on Friday 30th October. Any nominations received after the closing date will be excluded.
We will contact winning nominations in November 2020.
If you’ve change your mind about nominating a Hometown Hero, just drop us an email at [email protected] with your name and the email address you provided and we can remove the nomination.
The most dedicated, highly trained and determined athletes from across 71 nations will come together for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in a momentous celebration of sport, competition and community.
