About the role

B2022 are looking for an experienced Sport Equipment Manager who will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of sport equipment to the field of play, warm up areas and training venues for every sport at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The role will be responsible for the specification/scope, asset tracking, procurement, operational planning, contract management and logistics planning for the entire event.


Key achievements of this role will be the successful scope, procurement and delivery of the equipment but with a commitment to ensuring the event is sustainable and accessible to all in the long term. We are seeking individuals to join us who are innovative, commercially astute and have a genuine passion and interest in delivering the most sustainable, inclusive and accessible Commonwealth Games to date.

Responsibilities

  • Scope and plan every aspect of the sport equipment programme, including distribution planning
  • Specify the sport equipment scope of works with each Sport Competition Manager and maintain the master list of all equipment required across the Games
  • Input to and support the procurement tender processes with scope, specification and project management
  • Project manage equipment Look design in conjunction with the Look team and International Federation regulations.
  • Ensure all goods and services meet with International Federation technical requirements and are installed/ extracted within agreed timelines
  • Oversee the management of sport equipment delivery, installation, transition, maintenance, de-installation and extraction at fields of play, warm-up areas and training venues, in conjunction with relevant Functional Areas
  • Develop policies and procedures relevant to Sport Equipment in line with wider Games requirements, including post-Games sport equipment and resource dissolution and legacy planning
  • Develop strong internal relationships to facilitate the planning and delivery of all sport equipment elements, with focus on and links with Sport Competition, Procurement, Marketing (Look), Commercial, Finance and Logistics functions and departments

Key Experience & Skills Required

  • Knowledge and experience in the procurement of sport equipment (experience in a multi-sport environment would be preferred)
  • Prior experience working in a project management capacity in a high profile sporting environment (experience in a multi-sport environment would be preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience of working in partnership with managers and external stakeholders, having a high degree of autonomy, influence and negotiation experience
  • Operational Planning and Logistics experience
  • Excellent Microsoft skills, particularly Excel and spreadsheet manipulation
