About the role

Birmingham 2022 are looking for an experienced, commercially savvy and diplomatic new hire to join the Organising Committee (OC) as the Head of CEO’s Office. The role will support the CEO in a capacity similar to a “chief of staff” acting as a trusted advisor, stakeholder manager and significant resource in the strategic running of the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to the full gamut of the CEO’s role and responsibility while supporting the delivery of a prestigious global sporting event.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the running of the Executive Office alongside the CEO and CEO Executive Assistant.
  • Support cross functional activities and own projects/strategic initiatives that may not fit neatly within a Birmingham 2022 FA (Functional Area).
  • Advocate and facilitate constructive communication across the organisation and manage any issues in a fair and compassionate manner.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives through research, analysis, project planning and provide information to the Executive Management Team (EMT) and CEO.
  • Analyse, interpret and present complex information from the organisation to the CEO to ensure the “bigger picture” is considered.
  • Support the CEO in ensuring effective governance including reviewing board and committee reports.
  • Support board meetings with information gathering, recommendations and reports.
  • Liaise with HR on any organisational change and communications initiatives
  • Assess enquires directed to the CEO, determine the proper course of action and act as a buffer to create “strategic space”.
  • Liaise with both internal stakeholders (Executive Leadership Team and Directors) and external stakeholders (will include Birmingham City Council, Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Combined Authority).

Please note – responsibilities of the role will evolve during the lifespan of the Organising Committee and it is likely that the role profile will evolve with the changing needs of the OC.
